Title: Two Dimensions of Prayer Review and Essence of Godly Knowledge

Notes:

Review: Two Dimensions of a Believer's Prayer Life

Don't let anything distract you from your prayer life. Recommended reading for the Two Dimensions of a Believer's Prayer life is 1 Corinthians 14:1-40. Our spirit needs to pray. If we are going to be productive saints, our spirit man needs to pray and sing. This is the first dimension. We are talking about people who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. You may not understand what your spirit is praying and that's okay because it needs to pray. The second dimension is singing and praying with understanding. A believer's prayer life must exist in the these two dimensions.

The Spirit helps our weaknesses (Romans 8:26). When we pray only with understanding we are limited, our prayer life will be limited. When you pray in the Spirit you will receive the greatness of the Lord. You will magnify the Lord.

After speaking in tongues, God's greatness will be revealed to you (Acts 10:46). You will see the greatness of God.

When you pray in the spirit, you prophesize. Prophecy comes in diverse ways. When your eyes are open that is a prophetic word. There are things that happen when you pray with the spirit (Acts 19:6).

Essence of Godly Knowledge

The knowledge of the Word of God is an enhancer in your life. You may ask "Why do I need Godly knowledge?"

There are people who don't get the benefits of knowing God because they lack knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Destruction comes when there is a lack of knowledge.

Captivity is a place where you are a prisoner. People get into trouble because they don't have knowledge (Isaiah 5:13). We need precise knowledge of the Word of God. Even honorable men must have knowledge.

The Word of God will not do you any good if you don't have knowledge (Isaiah 1:3). When you call your dog, he/she knows your voice and will come wagging his/her til because they have knowledge of who you are. God wants us to have knowledge of who He is so that we will be happy when we hear His Word..

The reason you must have precise knowledge is that your identity is renewed.

The essence of Godly knowledge, the reason you shouldn't be ignorant about God, is that your identity is renewed to the understanding of God (Colossians 2:10). The new man is referring to the identity of the believer. We must have precise knowledge of God in order to be renewed. The reason a lot of us are in trouble, spiritual trouble, is because our spirit is not renewed. Your spirit man must be built up. The problem is renewing the new man (or rather the lack thereof).

You need to give yourself to the Word. The only way to renew the inner man is through knowledge of the Word of God.

In 2 Corinthians 4:16, the word 'perish' means our outward man faces attacks, but our inner man is renewed day by day because we don't give up (we "faint not"). Our flesh, our outward man, will have problems and difficulties, but if we have knowledge then our inner man should not.

When you are going after the knowledge of God day by day, you will have the authority to defend from every attack of the enemy. The inward man is renewed daily, not monthly or yearly. It must be renewed daily.

Day by day doesn't mean to read your bible in the day and forget about it at night (Joshua 1:8). You ought to meditate on the Word of God day and night. If you don't, then the little you know will slip away. It's not God that makes your way prosperous - it is you! It is you through your knowledge of the Word that you will be prosperous.

Another reason that you need Godly knowledge is so that you have access to victory. This does not mean that challenges will not come your way. It does mean that you will have victory over them when they do come.

Access to victory comes through the knowledge of the Word of knowledge. The person that is constantly looking into the Word of God and a doer of the Word will be blessed (James 1:24-25).

If you believe in the Word and continue in the Word you will have access to the truth. The knowledge of God positions you to receive victory.

In Matthew 8:1-3 there were things that the leper did that others did not do. He knew the Lord could make him clean. The knowledge of the Word will allow you to approach God.

He gives us boldness to stand out for Christ. You need knowledge to stand out for what Christ has done.

In Galatians 2:11-12 Paul knew both the circumsized and gentiles were reconciled. Peter did not have this concise knowledge. It goes on in Galatians 2:13 where Paul confronted Peter because he had the Word of God.

Sickness and problems are overcome by the knowledge of the Word of God (Mark 10:46-52) Knowledge comes from hearing. The knowledge of God will help you overcome the trials and sicknesses of life. Timaeus was not a Christian, he was just a beggar, but he had knowledge. When you have a knowledge of God and apply them, things will work for you.

Knowledge helps us in the midst of the storms of life.

In Acts 27:13-24, Paul stood forth in the midst of them and in the midst of a great tempest, and because he had precise knowledge of the Word of God he told them not to be afraid. The knowledge of God will help you in the midst of your storms. You will see that God will make a way for you where there is no way. Don't listen to the devil because he is a liar. Know that the knowledge of God and of the Word will save you!

Knowledge will help you overcome sins.

In 1 Samuel 2:12-13 the sons of the priest served idols because they did not know the Lord. They were misbehaving because they did not know the Lord. They were priests which shows that you can be a believer and not be in the Word.

Even a child can minister to you (1 Samuel 2:18). Samuel, who was just a child, was ministering to them.

You must have knowledge of the Word of God and people with knowledge come from unexpected places. Knowledge comes from hearing and listening. It comes by studying the Word. It comes from talking to those who minister. Don't be misled by the lies of the devil, because the devil will try to feed you misinformation. It is only through your knowledge in God that you will know when you are being deceived.
