Title: (Blessings of) Seeking the Face of God

Notes:

In seeking the face of God, one thing you need to know is that God won't force you to seek his face. For you to seek the face of God it has to be intentional. It has to be something you deliberately set out to do. It has to be something you desire to do,

When Moses set up the tabernacle, he set it up outside of the camp (Exodus 33:7). He did this because if anyone wanted to seek the Lord they must make a conscious effort to do so. It must be intentional, something that comes from the mind, a deliberate decision. Everybody who wanted to seek the Lord had to leave their house and seek intentionally.

We live in a generation that wants everything. But there's only one thing we need to make us successful. God will never force you to do that which is right. It must be your conscious decision. For you to enjoy the blessings that come from seeking the Lord, you must first have a desire to seek him. The house of the Lord referred to in Psalms 27:4 is God's presence. "Seek you first the kingdom." The first step you must take is that there needs to be a burning desire to seek God, a burning desire to be in God's presence.

The reason we find it hard to live for Him is that our mind is not made up to seek Him.

When you are focused on seeking God, on seeking his glory, you will be victorious in all things. "Show me your glory dear Lord! Show me your presence because then everything will come dear Lord!" The reason these guys in Psalms 24:1-6 were righteous was because they sought God's face. When you see "Selah" in the bible it means "think on this." The reason we cannot live for God is because our mind is not made up. How can a child of God live in this generation? By always seeking His face.

One of the blessings that comes to everyone who seeks after God is that His glory, His presence, will go with them (Exodus 33:14).

Why should God's presence go before us? In times of trouble He will hide us in His shelter (Psalms 27:5). Because you are in the presence of God, in times of trouble He will protect you. This does not mean that troubles will not come. It means you will be able to overcome them when they do come.

The glory of God will protect you when people speak against you, when they try to harm you with words (Psalms 31:20).

In times of trouble, God will put the songs of victory in your mouth (Psalms 32:7). If you have God's glory everything else is taken care of. This does not mean troubles won't come, but you will be victorious because God's presence will be there.

The Lord will be your refuge in times of trouble (Psalms 9:9). He will take care of you, protect you, guide you. Seek God and He will make provisions for you. The Lord will not forsake those that seek Him (Psalms 9:10).

When you are confused and don't know what to do (perplexed), God will guide you. The Holy Ghost will guide you (2 Corinthians 4:7-9).

Don't trust yourself, trust in God. You cannot learn to experience God until you give yourself to the Word.

The next thing that happens when you seek the face of God is that He will give you rest (Exodus 33:14). Rest doesn't mean you won't have to go to school anymore and can sleep all day. That would be laziness in disguise. It means that the enemy will not dictate to you anymore. You will overcome the things the enemy throws at you. You will brush them off. Rest - He was talking about authority - not sleeping.

What was the rest we see in 2 Chronicles 20:29-30? The glory of God upon him caused the enemy to be frightened. Again in Deuteronomy 12:9-10 God promised rest. The land was not vacant. There were people already in the land. For them to dwell there they would have to force the enemy out. Now look at Joshua 11:23. What did they do? They took the whole land. God gave them rest.

Always - not sometimes or even frequently, but always - have triumph in Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14) There is nothing that comes against you that you don't have authority to overcome. If you are in Christ, the enemy will perceive that the glory of God is upon you.

When people see bad things occurring to you they may falsely accuse you (Acts 28:1-6). They will change their mind when they see the victory you have in Christ. There is nothing the enemy can do to you when you have the presence of God in your life.

The blessings you will have when you seek God will be uncountable. Your requests will all be taken care of by God.

Exodus 33:17 is a continuation of the conversation when he was seeking the face of God. God knows you personally. He knows where you live. He knows where your heart is. Anyone who seeks God's face, everything they seek before the Lord will be granted to them.

The challenge we are putting before you today is to seek God's face.
