Title: Spirit of Faith - Prayer in Faith Part 2 (Notes and YouTube Video)

Review of Prayer in Faith (see Wednesday's discussion)

As believers we need to understand how to pray. We are not going to live an effective and productive life until we learn to pray. You will live an ordinary life without prayer. With prayer you will live a supernatural life.

Wednesday we went deep into discussion on Acts 12. Let's do a little review.

If you aren't careful when you read this chapter you will think that the prayer (see Acts 12:1-5) was a short 5 minute prayer, but it lasted the 7 days of the Passover feast.

Verses 6-7 - Why didn't the angel show up on the first day of prayer? We don't know, but we do know these people engaged themselves in prayer until the angel did show up.

Switching to the story in Acts 4:23-34 (Read 1-22 for the background to our discussion). In this story the people didn't complain about their troubles. Instead they lifted their voices to God. They presented their case before the Lord. You will not be effective until you can learn to pray. Because they gave themselves to prayer they were filled with the Holy Ghost. If you want to see the power of the holy spirit, you need to get yourself into prayer. This section of the bible is trying to show us how important and powerful prayer is in your life. If you want the enemy out of your life, then you need to pray. It is at the place of prayer that you generate great power. It is at the alter of prayer where you generate great power and get grace poured out upon you. Greater is He who is in me. Use prayer to get the devil out of your life!

You will live a supernatural life if you give yourself to prayer.

The place of prayer in our faith....

Let's switch to Daniel 2 in which the king, Nebuchadnezzar, had dreams he needed interpreted.

In Daniel 2:1-2 he called forth his magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers to interpret his dreams. These are all people who have demonic forces in their lives. People who pray have more authority than those with a demonic spirit.

Verses 3-7 - This is like a drama. The king had dreams and wanted his demonic forces to interpret it. The devil does not have access to these things unless God allows it to be so.

Verses 8-10 - The king knew there was no man who could reveal the dreams to him.

Verses 11-15 - Daniel didn't know what was going on.

Verse 16 - Anyone who prays has boldness to face challenges.

Lets look at Daniel 6:10 briefly to learn about Daniel. Daniel was a praying man who stood before God's presence. Any one in prayer can conquer their destiny and have boldness to overcome anything. Daniel was a man of prayer. Not just "Father we give you praise, thank you. Amen." Daniel was daily in prayer, in-depth prayer. We are talking about giving yourself over to prayer. Praying with supplication. Every day Daniel prayed, both on good days and on bad days. He was kneeling three times a day and praying. Daniel was not panicking when they told him he was going to the lions den because he knew the authority of God. He prayed. The reason we are afraid today is because we don't pray earnestly and fervently.

It has been said that God doesn't do anything until men pray. Prayer changes things. Show me a man who prays and I will show you a man with boldness.

Now lets get back to Daniel 2:16. Daniel wanted the king to give him time. Everybody who prays can see the invisible. Daniel knew if he prayed, he could interpret the dreams.

Verse 17 - Daniel's house was a house of prayer. Miracles happened in his home. The people who frequent your life will determine how effective your spiritual life is.

Verse 18 - Bring your desires before God. Tell Him what you hope to see, what you hope to accomplish, what you want revealed from Him. Petition God through supplication. Go before God and ask for freedom and deliverance.

Verse 19 - Why didn't God reveal the secret to Daniel before praying? Was it because God didn't love him? God loved him and Daniel loved God. But love alone will not allow secrets to be revealed.

Verse 20 - Thank God for everything he gives you. Don't give up praying until you see your freedom come. Be passionate to see your deliverance come.

Isaiah 38:1 is from God - that Hezekiah shall die and not live. God explains things beyond our imagination. Hezekiah refused to accept this death sentence and he prayed (Isaiah 38:2). He cried out and sought God with all his heart. The bible is trying to show us the power of prayer. Things can change through prayer. Victory will come in the name of Jesus.

We have to use what we have done in the kingdom to go before the Lord and give our petitions (Isaiah 38:3-5). God sees your tears. Pray from the heart and don't be afraid to cry. Engage yourself in prayer. This is a man who was supposed die.

When you pray there is a supply of the spirit of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:19). Through prayer you will gain your salvation.

How do we ask? (Ephesians 3:20) Through prayers. When we pray there is a supply of Christ which will allow you to overcome your troubles. Do not let your doubt cripple your prayer life. Believe God. Believe that your troubles will be overcome.

Forgive. (Mark 11:25) One thing that destroys your faith and prayer is unforgiveness. Do not hold grudges. Let go or your prayers will not be answered. Jesus is not concerned with what the other person did. He is concerned with how you handle it.

Ask from your heart. Forgive those who have trespassed against you. Set yourself free. Forgive. Pray.
