Title: Spirit of Faith - Prayer in Faith (Notes and YouTube Video)

Notes:

Luke 18:1 tells us that we should always pray and don't faint. Prayer is very important in the life of a believer. If you don't pray, you won't be productive. Victory comes through prayer. Your spiritual life is very important and prayer is an important part of it. Through prayer the supernatural is released. Victory comes through prayer. If we are going to be victorious as a child of God, prayer is one of those things we need in our life.

Ephesians 6:18 starts "Praying always" - not sometimes or once in awhile - he said "praying always" - it should be an attitude. It should be intentional. It should not be something you do just when you want to do it. Prayer is vital in your life! Supplication is not something that you do one time. It is endless. You give your time and energy and everything about you to it.

Discussing the place of supplication in prayer.

James 5:14-16 talks about effectual fervent prayer. He wasn't talking about a brief prayer. You must be into it and give it your all. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effectual. If a righteous man gives himself to prayer, he can take hold of his destiny. Take hold of your destiny!

Lets talk about Acts 12:1-11 for a little bit. If you are not careful you will think that the prayer discussed here was a brief two (2) minute prayer. But we need to look at verse 3 where it discusses the feast of Passover which would last seven (7) days. That means that for seven (7) days the church was praying without ceasing.

We will come back to Acts 12 but lets look at Exodus 12:15. "Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread;" this is showing us that the Passover feast lasted seven (7) days.

Back to Acts 12:3 - for seven (7) days they lock themselves in their houses and pray. They refused to give up until there was a miracle. Why is it after only a few minutes of prayer you give up? Pray without ceasing! Always with supplication.

If you can pray, then the enemy will not take advantage of you. In prayer you receive your victory. In prayer you receive deliverance from the works of darkness. This is the reason the devil doesn't want you to pray.

Verse 6 - The angel was released when the seven (7) days were over. They were asking God for seven (7) days for Peter to be released. "In the name of Jesus releases Peter!" must have been heard over and over again. I have good news for you. If you can go before God, on your knees in supplication, then your mountains will move! I believe that mountains must move!

Verse 7 - The reason we aren't seeing the supernatural manifestations is because nobody wants to wait at the place of prayer. I want to challenge you tonight to increase your prayer time. If you typically spend five (5) minutes in prayer, increase it to forty (40) minutes petitioning God! With this type of prayer you are petitioning God for change. Petitioning God for a miracle.

Verse 10 - A heartfelt prayer releases the supernatural. It takes fervent prayer. "God I need to work things out!" Supplication delivers us from the hands of the wicked. If you want to be delivered from the hands of the wicked then its not a two (2) minute prayer.

If you want to overcome the expectations of the enemy then you must give yourself to prayer. Sometimes the devil will tell you that you are spending too much time in prayer. You need to tell the devil to shut up! Tell him that you want to see the miraculous power of God.

Lets talk about 1 Samuel 1 for a bit now.

1 Samuel 1:1-5 discusses Hannah and every year she goes back to the temple and prays for change in her womb. The problem today is that we give up when we don't see a miracle within three (3) days of prayer.

Verses 9-10 says she had "bitterness of soul" meaning she was discontented, she was angry because her womb was shut up. What did she do? Give up and cry? NO! She prayed. Not a two (2) minute prayer, rather she spent time in her prayers.

Verse 11 - Anytime you are at this level, making a petition before the lord, it is your soul speaking. You are pouring out your heart. If you don't go to a place of prayer you will not be able to conquer your afflictions. Hannah continued to pray. We need to bring ourselves to prayer.

Verse 12 - she continued praying.

Verse 13 - She was pouring out her heart to God. Maybe it sounded something like "God I need a change! I can't take it any longer!" (does this sound familiar?) Pray with supplication like Hannah. Say "I am going to fast and pray until I see my deliverance! I am not giving up!"

Verse 14-15 - She was a woman of sorrowful spirit. She realized she needed a change. Do you need a change? If you find you are in a place of sorrow, you need to give yourself over to prayer. Your faith won't work if you don't pray. Confession is a waste of time without fervent prayer.

How much time do you give in prayers? How much time? Go before God in supplication. Increase your prayer time. Pray fervently.

Don't be lazy in things of the spirit! Your future will be at stake. You will receive grace through prayer! We need to pray as a church! We need to pray as a community! We need to pray!
