Title: The Resurrection is a Person, Not a One Day Event

Today is Easter Sunday. "The Easter Bunny" has came and visited many Christians. Many Churches are celebrating with Egg Hunts. Many Christians feel that this is the one day a year we turn our focus on the resurrection of Christ. But where did the Easter Bunny and Easter eggs come from and what do the have to do with the resurrection of our Lord and Savior? They come from pagan fertility rites, but that is for another discussion, another time.

What we want to focus today's lesson on is the Resurrection of Christ. The Resurrection is not just an event you celebrate once a year. It is a way of life. The Resurrection is a person, not an event. Celebrate it all year long, but most of all - remember His death. For that is what He truly wanted us to remember. "Do this is remembrance of me" - He was the Passover lamb that was sacrificed for our salvation.

If you want to live a victorious life you must understand today's discussion.

Healing can be for our emotional well being as well as our physical well being. Today we will be looking at the life and death of the man Christ Jesus. This is for everyone who is Christian, male and female alike, regardless of your background or current status. Everybody can access God in Christ.

The devil will try to bring many things in your life that will affect you future. You must be strong in your identity in Christ (see "The Identity of Believers"). A new identity in Christ is similar to having a new home. You might mistakenly return to the old home, but if you are grounded in your new location then you will return home (victorious).

When did the old man die and when did he become anew?

All will be made alive in Christ, not just some (1 Corinthians 15:22). We all die as in Adam, the original sinner. Adam begat a son in his image (Genesis 5:3), not in the image of God. Adam was the only man created in God's image. We are born in the likeness of Adam, through his sinful nature.

We were made sinners through Adam's disobedience (Romans 5:19). No faithful Christian tells their children to lie, but they learn to do it none the less. It is in our nature. You can be morally good and still be a sinner. It is only through the obedience of one that we are made righteous.

Everyone is under sin (Galatians 3:22). Righteousness is given to us by God, not because of the way you act, because of Jesus. God is looking for a day when he will come to sanctify us. Those things you dislike in yourself, caused by the devil, will not just go away by themselves or through self help courses. You need God - you need Christ. That is the only way you will be saved from those sins.

In Romans 3:9, Paul was asking if the Jews were better than the gentiles. The answer is no. The Israelites were all under sin. They were not righteous just because they had the law of Moses. In Adam, everyone dies. If you are not in Christ, you are in trouble. No matter how spiritual you think you are, you cannot be righteous without Jesus.

When and where did the old man die?

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The sin brings death; a separation from God; a spiritual death. You are being separated from your maker, this is why the enemy has access to your mind.

We are dead in sin (1 Peter 2:24). It is a position you need to get up from. Don't let your sins hold you down.

Paul wasn't there when Christ was crucified, so why did he say he was crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20)? He understood Christ died for him, for all of our sins. Grace gives us authority over sin. Grace gives us victory. Christ must live in you if you are going to overcome your fate. "I have victory in the name of Jesus!" Shout it. Shout Victory!

A child of God ought to live a victorious life. They ought to be able to defeat the devil every day. Christianity is not a dead religion - it is alive! Feel the power available when you have Jesus in you! "I believe God can heal all types of diseases!" (come on say it!) In Paul's time to say you were Christian was to make yourself an outcast. If Paul could be alive in Christianity and not ashamed to be Christian, why can't you? There is life in Jesus! Praise God! If you love Jesus lift up your hands right now! Declare victory in your life! Christianity is Power. Live in that power. Live in Christ!
